Week 34 This week we get the last bit of forward superstructure for the moment.
The bits we received

And what we did with them
The first steps were a pain in the proverbial. I found that all the slots seemed to have been cut not quite deep enough. I.e. About 3.8mm deep slots to take 4mm ply. It meant that I had to trim the bottom of each slot to get the parts to go together properly.

Parts 177 & 178 are slightly asymmetric. Annoyingly so close so that it's difficult to see the difference. Once you've worked out which way each part goes, mark it with a pencil so you can easily see which way it goes. I let Kilroy loose with a power tool today.

This section went together OK, but the slots were still not deep enough. I decided on an alternative approach this time.

Once the parts were glued together, I sanded the top and bottom until the sandpaper just took the dark colour off the tops off the tabs. This worked easily and only took a few minutes with 80 grit emery cloth.

This last section was plain sailing ;o)
